The Sun is my Spot Light and my Surf Board is my Stage!!

I guess I haven't really mentioned this before in my blog seems strange kinda but I am a surfer girl. Haha sounds funny to say that but anyways I absolutely love surfing and this summer will make it the 10th year that I have been partaking in this wonderful amazing sport. I have to admit these past couple of years since I have entered the working world I have not been able to go surfing as much, but everytime I go out in the water it's like all my troubles drown away in the calming colors of the deep blue wonder of the sea.

Take me out to the Ball Game

I've been meaning to post this for a while but another San Diego Fun Thing To Do is of course to go to a ball game who doesn't love going out for a ballgame. Well to be honest I don't really follow baseball or claim to know anything really about baseball stats or what not but I do like going to the Padres stadium to watch a game and I'm not completely clueless to what's on the scoreboard (i definately am when it comes to football). Anyways so last year petco park had an awesome deal called the 5 for $5 where you get peanuts, popcorn, hotdog, cookie, and a drink all for just $5 unfortunately they don't have that deal anymore I guess it wasn't profitable. So instead I found on San Diego Gal Erin's blog a small list of her favorite hot dog places in San Diego, so grab a hot dog head down to Petco Park and cheer on our Padres! click here to view the schedule. Also if you are not familiar with downtown area I recommend parking at either the old town trolley station or the one on Morena or wherever is closest to you and just getting trolley tickets to get to the stadium it will even out with the money you would have paid on gas driving around and the headache from trying to figure out where to park.

Sunsets and Flowers

I wanted to wait to post this until i went back to take more pics I wanted to get a few of me and Tim here but time is running out and the flowers aren't going to last forever in fact they are fading fast so I recommend you checking them out head over to sunset cliffs before the flowers wilt you will love it the flowers bloomed so tall you can hide in them and the beautiful ocean and cliffs is another reason to head over there.

New Recipe

I have been trying to cook at home alot more trying out different recipes, and there is this breakfast recipe I had been dying to try so I finally made it yesterday and served it this morning for my roomates it turned out pretty good I didn't take any pics so I just used the pics from the recipe i got it from. The original recipe I got from all recipe's.com but I completely modified it due to the fact that I had different ingredients available. so here is the recipe that I made.

Happy Birthday Shirley Temple!!!
All those who are fans of Shirley Temple raise your hand. I grew up watching old Shirley Temple movies and will always be a huge fan of the adorable curly topped little personality that she brought to so many great films. So today being her birthday I thought I would dedicate this post to her. Shirley Jane Temple (born April 23, 1928) began her career as a toddler of just the age of three back in 1932.
(Tap Dancing with Billy Bojangles Robinson)
“I stopped believing in Santa Claus when I was six. Mother took me to see him in a department store and he asked for my autograph.” ~ Shirley Temple BlackThat’s how famous this little girl was in 1934, she had skyrocketed to super stardom in Bright Eyes and her fame and popularity would only grow over the next few years during the Great Depression. By 1935, she was Hollywood’s top box office draw, beating out film stalwarts Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Myrna Loy and Joan Crawford, and her perch on top of the Hollywood heap would continue for the following three years.
(so many great tap dancing scenes in her movies with bojangles)
Born in California in 1928, the tiny tot signed on at 20th Century-Fox in early 1934 at the ripe old age of five. Fame and accolades soon followed, with Temple receiving a special Oscar in 1935 for her contribution to film the previous year blockbusting super hits such as Curly Top and Heidi.

Happy Earth Day!

It's the 40th annual earth day and the going green is still going strong so here are 12 steps I'm going to try to take to make my lifestyle more environmentally friendly. Also check out this great article from Time Magazine called the Peril of Plastic's
1. Think outside the recycling box. It's simple: These days you can recycle a lot more than paper, glass, aluminum and plastic. Even better: Reuse stuff--less energy is wasted on making it new, and less pollution gets spewed out. A few of many options: Drop off your old prescription eyeglasses at an eyewear store (find one at givethegiftofsight.com); give that outdated cell phone back to the store; hand over old sneaks at Nike's Reuse-a-Shoe program (nikereuseashoe.com) and they'll be turned into playground flooring. Also check out freecycle.org, a network in which people offer up free gently used items--futons, quesadilla makers, you name it.
2. Sign up for online banking. It saves you time, and it saves trees. If every American did this, 2.3 million tons of wood could be spared annually, and 3.9 billion pounds of greenhouse gases (directly to blame for heating up the planet) would be eliminated. When you visit an ATM, skip the receipt--those scraps of paper are a top source of litter.
3. Switch to green power. You don't have to build a windmill in your backyard or anything. Just find an energy company that uses good old wind, sun or water (but not from a big dam) for power. Visit eere.energy.gov/greenpower to find a local supplier.
4. Adjust your thermostat. The average American home emits about 13 tons of air-clogging carbon dioxide annually via boilers, furnaces and water heaters. Put a dent in that by lowering your thermostat 2°F in winter (to 68°F, ideally) and raising the AC temp by the same amount in summer (to 76°F).
5. Slow down on the road. "Don't speed up, weave in and out of traffic, brake constantly or drive 20 miles over the speed limit, and you can improve your fuel efficiency by about 30 percent," says Diane MacEachern, author of Big Green Purse.
6. Switch to rechargeable batteries. The regular ones end up in landfills, oozing toxins. Nice, huh? "I use only rechargeables now," says Starre Vartan, creator of the blog eco-chick.com. "They've gotten much more powerful in the past few years." Pick some up at the drugstore or any mass store like Target.
7. Stop the catalog insanity. Unwanted sausage-of-the-month catalogs and the like add up to more than 4 million tons of paper a year. Sign up at the new site catalogchoice.org to keep them out of your mailbox once and for all.
8. Order the good kind of fish. During the past decade, the global demand for fish has led to more than 70 percent of the world's species being exploited or fully depleted. "You want to choose Pacific halibut, wild Alaskan salmon and mahi-mahi, which haven't been overfished," says Meaghan O'Neill, coauthor of Ready, Set, Green. Download a handy pocket guide at seafoodwatch.org.
9. Pick up a reusable water bottle. Cute? Check. Trendy? Check. Keeps plastic out of landfills? Check. Try the lightweight aluminum Sigg bottles (from $16, mysigg.com). Also consider installing a filter on your kitchen sink, as Eva Longoria Parker did in her new green San Antonio home. "Tony and I made sure the water was filtered so we would never need to buy bottles," she tells us.
10. Turn the washing machine to cold. If every American did four out of five loads in cold water, it could keep 50 tons of nasty carbon emissions out of the atmosphere per year, according to the Center for a New American Dream. "It makes my clothes last longer, too," adds Sophie Uliano, author of Gorgeously Green.
11. Get instantly ecosmarter. Need an environmentally correct dry cleaner? Want to know if your hairspray will hurt the planet? Check out greenmaven.com to find answers and services for all things green.
12. Just say no to plastic bags--and paper ones. Because plastic never decomposes, it hogs landfills. (The bags are so prevalent in the South African countryside, they're jokingly called "the national flower.") Paper might seem like a better choice, but it actually uses more resources to produce. Solution: a tote. (glamour)

Happy Administrative Assistant Day!

Formely known as Secretary Day, I am an administrative assistant so I decided to blog about this day dedicated to people like me!
I'm so thankful for how far we've come and that my phone doesn't work like this one!

A disadvantage to staring at a computer all day my vision has worsened and I will probably need to get glasses what do you think about these haha.

So thankful for the evolution of office tools glad they were thinking of keeping our hands looking lovely.
There are days when its hard to work under someone else. Working in an office I can also totally relate to some of the humerous things that occur in the show the office.
There are also days when being in an office can get pretty boring and yes sometimes my desk does look like this blah. But there are also days that co-workers make it fun!

Sweet Tooth

I previously blogged about my project in my painting class and last night was the last time we had to work on it. So I'm not exactly thrilled about how it turned out because I think one more day would have allowed me to put the finishing touches on it, but I really liked the process we learned. We used what is called impasto painting and basically its where you mix cold wax with the oil paints to make a thick frosting like paste and we painted with pallette knives. The project was to paint a dessert so I went to Vons and got a small cupcake and if you eat cupcakes from vons you might want to rethink that because my cupcake last me 2 weeks perfectly preserved I would hate to think what chemicals they use to make it last that long. Anyway here are some pics of the process.

This was the cupcake i used isn't it cute!
Here is the base painting before I added the impasto paint. here is a close up of how thick i caked on the paint.
The finished product well finished for class anyways ideally I would continue to work on this and add a few more shadows to make it really pop out but ran out of time.
A side view so you can get another look at the thickness of the paint.

The Long Long Trailer 1954
"I Love Lucy" co-stars and real-life husband-and-wife team Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz star in this hilarious adaptation of Clinton Twiss's novel, following the high jinks of a newlywed couple who spend their honeymoon in a trailer. After making big plans to Colorado in their lemon-yellow motor home, it doesn't take long for Nicky (Arnaz) and Tacy (Ball) to realize that they'll be lucky if they make it to their final destination in one piece. This movie is a great one it will keep you laughing the whole time my mom and I love this movie!

Trailin along on the open road!

I'm making trailers the topic for the day today. I have been thinking a little about my future when it comes to vacationing and I think that someday I would like to own a cute little vintage trailer for when I have a family and we go camping and stuff I would love to haul around something so classy and comfortable. I absolutely love camping and tent camping is my favorite but I do think having a trailer would make things easier with a family just in case it rains you can still camp or cook and stuff. The first time I decided I wanted to have my own little trailer was when I went and visited my church they were camping at the beach and my best friend Katie's in laws were there with a little vintage trailer that was so absolutely adorable I would like to have one like them someday. I found these pictures on one of my favorite blogs eat drink chic check out these cute trailers now your going to want one.
