Classic Movie Cafe

Well it's been a while since I've made any classic movie recommendation I'm not sure if any of you even enjoy classic movies, but I absolutely love them and there are so many christmas favorites that I am going to recommend many movies over the next few weeks so here are a few of my favorites!
The Shop Around the Corner
In Ernst Lubitsch's charming, Budapest-set romance -- later remade as the Meg Ryan-Tom Hanks vehicle You've Got Mail -- Klara (Margaret Sullavan) and Alfred (James Stewart) fall in love, even though they've only met before as pen pals and don't even know each other's names. Over Alfred's objections, Klara is hired in the shop where he works. But as they continue their loving correspondence, they embark on a combative working relationship. This film is one of my many christmas favorites!!

For me nothing says christmas like hearing Bing Crosby sing White Christmas!!! Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye play war buddies turned entertainers who fall for a pair of sisters (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen). The boys follow the girls to a resort, which is owned by their former commanding officer, and he's in danger of losing the place. What better reason to stage a show than to keep the resort out of hock?

Christmas is here lets wrap some gifts

I'm going to try to be intentional about blogging these next couple weeks because so much is going on but I don't want to neglect this festive season.
So today's post is about a little project I am doing with my preschoolers but it's so great I want to share it with you! I don't know if any of you are big into recycling but i've been collecting paper bags from Trader Joes everytime I get one I think well I should reuse this so I found a project that allowed me to do just that and get rid of all those bags I've been holding onto. This is a DIY wrapping paper project you can do if you want to do something different! So basically you take your paper bag and open it along the seems so you have just one large piece of brown paper, if it's super wrinkled pull out the old iron and flatten it out a little. If you don't have any paper bags you can get a roll of packaging paper from pretty much anywhere. Then go ahead and have fun decorating it use christmas stencils, paint, sponges, etc get creative. My preschooler's did red and green hand prints. You can even use stickers like the bottom photo.
Then use some pretty ribbons for finishing touches tie on a candy cane or some jingle bells if you want or if you are feeling really crafty you can do what I will be doing with my preschoolers and make some of these cool yarn pom poms click here for instructions on that!

My Engagement

Alright so I've been meaning to do this a while ago but transitioning always takes me a few days haha.
Well as many of you already know I am engaged I couldn't help but post it all over facebook the day after it happened. So here's my story. The week of Thanksgiving I said goodbye to Tim on Monday we had a nice dinner together and then we said good bye planning to spend our Thanksgiving apart due to the fact that Tim had to work. I had class on Tuesday night and Tim had an away basketball game he was going to work that night for USF (what he was really doing was flying down to San Diego, to be picked up by my sister to drive to my house in hemet and surprise my mom and dad and ask for their permission)
I went to work on Wednesday and then went straight to the airport after work to fly to San Diego and enjoy a great holiday with my family. My mom grandma, cousin Maddie and Isabelle came to pick me up from the airport. My mom was so excited to see me she hugged me and started crying (could it have been because her daughter was about to get engaged) I just thought wow my poor mom really missed me while I was up in San Francisco. As we started driving away from the airport my mom asked me if we could show Isabelle my undergrad campus because she had never seen it at night, so me being the tour guide I love to be agreed.
I wanted to make a stop before and show her this lookout of San Diego also. My mom not wanting to waste anytime said no let's do that later so we drove onto campus at PLNU. I was a little confused why my mom was bypassing the campus and heading straight down to the cliffs that overlook the water since it was night and you couldn't really see anything down there, but she played it off like it's just part of the tour and I of course believed her, on our way down we passed the security office and my mom pointed that and only that out to Isabelle I thought this was strange out of everything to show my cousin why that. My cousin Isabelle has always liked to play games and she asked me if her and Maddie could show me a new game they learned, they said we have to blind fold you though I being on the gullible side believed this. When we got to the parking lot they opened the door and I began to think that this is really strange.
As I thought that Tim grabbed my hand and said surprise, yes I was surprised ........wait what?!?!?!?! I was so confused wasn't he in San Francisco? A little bewildered and confused I followed him blindfolded I began thinking is this it he's not proposing wait what..... is he proposing wait ok slow down hold on don't get too excited wait I think he's proposing what if I get engaged tonight umm ok stop stop stop don't get too excited maybe he's not. (haha yes those were my exact thoughts) Tim began leading me down the hill to the cliffs he fell on the way down haha so I followed I could feel him shaking a little trying to keep his cool. He finally took of my blindfold and I found myself on the cliffs where he had all these beautiful candles and flowers set up.
I was so amazed he said some wonderful things about us and then asked if I would marry him got down on one knee. I don't think I could speak at first I think I just shook my head then said yes I was crying and smiling it was so overwhelming.
I looked down to receive the ring but to my surprise he was holding a ring pop HAHAHA I was really confused by this I didn't want to be disappointed if he couldn't afford a ring but then at the same time I wanted a real ring. I looked at him and asked is this true haha! He threw it aside and said just kidding!!!
Then he pulled out this beautiful ring!!!! Which I absolutely love!!! It is 60 years old it's from the 1950's a beautiful antique from a small antique shop in OB. I fell in love with it immediately could not have asked for a better choice. I believe that this ring was waiting just for me too because he went the morning that he proposed to buy a ring and found this lovely waiting for me. I look forward to having this be my something old on my wedding day!!
So there you go that's the story loved sharing that with you!!!
