Classic Movie Cafe

The Shop Around the Corner (1940)
It's another great Jimmy Stewart holiday classic, this film is not as well known as It's a wonderful life, but hollywood remade this classic movie that most of you probably have heard of "You've got Mail" in this original version the two main characters exchange snail mail, as email was not yet invented. I recommend checking out this charming original version! "Two employees at a gift shop can barely stand one another, without realizing that they're falling in love through the post as each other's anonymous pen pal".

Classic Movie Cafe

It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
So it's a Jimmy Stewart kind of day! Two great christmas movie posts coming your way. The first is a favorite for many and if you have never seen this you are missing out on one of the best christmas stories ever this is a heart warming movie that will fill you with the christmas spirit! "It's a wonderful film. Frank Capra's inverted take on A Christmas Carol stars Jimmy Stewart as George Bailey, a good man who's spent a lifetime giving up on his dreams in order to keep life in his small town humming. When a guardian angel named Clarence finds a despondent George poised to jump off a bridge, he shows George what life would've been like had he never been born."

WHITE CHRISTMAS (1954)
It's been a while since I recommended any classic movies and I figured well since it's Christmas what better time to recommend some good classics! Over the next few days I'll be sharing some of my all time favorite classic Christmas movies. Starting with my vote for #1, none other than White Christmas! In this musical "Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye play war buddies turned entertainers who fall for a pair of sisters (Rosemary Clooney and Vera-Ellen). The boys follow the girls to a resort, which is owned by their former commanding officer, and he's in danger of losing the place. What better reason to stage a show than to keep the resort out of hock?"
Enjoy this one!

Snow White times 2

Who didn't love snow white when they were young, well I guess maybe some people didn't. Anyways hollywood has decided to give us a double dose of the girl with the skin as white as snow. One movie known as "Snow White and the Huntsman" stars Charlize Theron as the evil queen, and depicts a darker version of this tale, with Kristen Stewart as a warrior type snow white and the Huntsman is played by Chris Hemsworth (Thor). The other snow white movie is called "Mirror, Mirror" stars Julia Roberts who I love as the evil queen, this version looks like a light hearted comical version of the snow white. Check out the trailers here!

who will make a more evil queen

snow white and her seven from "mirror mirror"

What are your favorite things about the Fall?

It's almost Turkey Time and it really feels like fall up here in San Francisco, the air is crisp and chilly, and all the trees have golden leaves. I was just thinking that even though summer is by far my favorite season I do love so many things about the fall such as.
Hot Soup on a Cold day

cozy socks and a good movie or book

some yummy warm drink

all the pretty colored leaves

baking something delicious with cinnamon and nutmeg

Wearing pretty scarves
do you have any fall favorites?

October in a nutshell

Well October has been a fast and eventful month full of the grad school grind, practicum woah's, and the hoorah of the seasonal festivities. So here are a few of the highlights from this month.
Sunday was a baking day I forget how much I love to bake since I don't have a kitchen, but lucky for me the family we live with was away for the weekend so we had the house to ourselves! It was so relaxing hanging out in a living room and cooking away in a kitchen!

Last Saturday night, a dear friend of ours gave Tim and I two tickets to this Bridge School Benefit Concert, put on by Neil Young, artists such as Santana, Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire, and etc. played it was sooo fun such a great way to procrastinate the mountain of homework we had!!

Tim had a great 28th Birthday with co-workers and friends!
We made a trip to the Half Moon Bay pumpkin and Art festival where we saw giant pumpkins and beautiful art I fell in love with all the glass blown pumpkins!
We watched Farmer Mike Carve the Giant pumpkins!
Here is his handiwork those pumpkins are actually really huge I should a took a picture to scale it.
Here is the drive down to the festival such a pretty coastline.
