Popsicle Maker

I found this Zoku popsicle maker that I would love to have it's soooo awesome I guess how it works is you have to freeze the maker for 24hrs then you can fill it with your creative recipes or by the awesome popsicle recipe book from William Sanoma, anyways then you stick the sticks in and it freezes right away like in 10 min WHAT!?!?!? so cool! So it only makes three at a time but once you freeze the first 3 you can immediately start on the next three and in 20 min have popsicles for 6 friends. What a great summer treat, I've been reading the user reviews and everyone has given full stars a couple people noticed that if your recipe has artificial sweetners the pops will stick to the maker so it's recommended to use natural fruity ingredients. You can buy this maker from Zoku which i recommend cause they have more information if you run into any trouble, or William Sanoma (they have a demonstration video so check that out). I really should buy this for my Entrepanuer Idea.

Channeling my Inner Van Gogh Part 2

Well it's finally finished you may have already read about my painting assignment to do a famous self portrait and replace the artists face with your own. I finally finished it here is the entire process and finished product of me with a beard haha. so here we have the painting i chose to imitate, Van Gogh in his straw hat.
here's the start took me forever to get the grids to match and draw it out class one just got the hat done.
Pretty satisfied with the background here takes along time to load on the paint i used my smalles paint brush to get the brushstroke effect.
I have finished the coat here and started on the face it's a good starting point.
haha need to fix that bag under my eye made sure to do that the following class.
good start on the eyes but definately room to improve.
dun dun dun da the beard now realizing that my entire face is much to flat and looks nothing like van gogh's brush work.
putting in colors and brush work like van gogh starting to like the eyes more.
eek went a little over board look like an aged weathered man can't see myself in the painting anymore.
the finished product, smoothed it out a little bit not too much after all van gogh was alot older than me when he painted this and also a man i dont need to make my skin look as weathered as his.
here's a little close up of the thickness of paint I used gotta see it in person to really get an idea.

Bike to work day

So my roomate informed me that tomorrow is bike to work day her work Plant with a Purpose is challenging people to ride their bikes to work. I probably won't partake I know you're disappointed but my bike probably wouldn't make my commute to work, but wouldn't it be cool if in a few years from now our commute looked like the one in this video, I guess more than 1/3 of the people in the netherlands ride thier bikes to work, how awesome is that think of all the Oil we would save and the health benefits!

Lust List

I'm obsessed with this tea cup from Anthropologie (that should be a red flag) It's on sale today so I'm going to go snatch it after work hopefully it will still be there. Anyways in a perfect world they would have an entire set of dishes to match this tea cup, well since I'm not at a place in life were I need my own set of fine china i'll settle for the tea cup, but Anthropologie I'm warning you, you have until I get married to come out with a set of dishes to match this, I guess I could see what my Dad is capable of (mom if you're reading this inspire mashoo to make some serving plates like this tea cup I might be wishing for that when I get married someday).

San Diego Fun Thing To Do

Sea Caves and Kayaks
Alright well as most tourists to San Diego have heard Kayaking at at the La Jolla Shores Sea Caves is a definate must see when visiting. There are lots of little kayak places you can stop and rent Kayak froms in La Jolla, but for the most affordable rentals I recommend Point Loma Nazarenes Rec Room the only issue with this is figuring out transportation, when you rent kayaks from Point Loma they supply you with straps for your car but you need to have a good car to transport them to La Jolla so if you don't you can always rent in La Jolla. There is really only one cave you can ride your kayak through but its pretty fun and thrilling and if the weather is good the water is usually gorgeous blue and you can see lots of sea lions so fun check it out.

The Cat Lounge

This recommendation is for the Cat Lounge a small bar in OB. Good memories hold a place for me at the Cat Lounge, OB's finest shuffle board stop. Many good times to be had here, there is pool tables, darts, a jute box and my all time favorirt shuffle board. This is a place for good friends and good times plus the gold fish aren't bad either, I return just for the bowl of gold fish haha.

Pizza Nova

Hand-stretched woodfired gourmet pizzas, pastas made fresh daily & the world's best salads.
This San Diego recommendation comes to my mind because I'm going to be going there this Saturday for Tim's big graduation celebration. This is one of my favorite pizza places in San Diego not only for the delicious pizza but because of good memories with friends. One of my favorite things about Pizza Nova is the garlic bread balls they bring you while you wait for your food they are so yummy we always tell the waitress to keep em coming. There are 4 of these resturants in San Diego but I recommend the one in Point Loma because it has a cute view of shelter island harbor.

Entrepanuer Idea

Alright so I just read about this popsicle shop in New York and I think it's absolutely brilliant. I would love to see one open up over here in San Diego who knows maybe someday i'll be the one to open one but check it out isn't it brilliant gellato, sorbet and frozen yogurt on a stick. I keep telling Tim our fortune is in opening up a cupcake shop cause cupcakes seem to be the trend these days but now I'm convinced our fortune is in this popsicle shop. I decided I will experiment with making popsicles this summer and maybe by next summer ill have enough recipes to open up a popsicle stop. click here to read about the one in New York.

Classic Movie Cafe

For this weekend's recommendations I will be recommending 3 great musicals I'm not sure why I am picking musicals but it feels like a singing weekend don't you think. So here are 3 musicals i think you will like.Meet me in St Luis I love this movie so much I can watch it a zillion times and never get tired of it in this movie the talented Judy Garlandstars as Esther Smith, who just can't ignore the boy next door (Tom Drake), in directorVincente Minnelli's musical masterpiece about the trials and tribulations of a tight-knit family living in St. Louis on the eve of the 1904 World's Fair. Memorable characters and charming songs, which include "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "The Trolley Song," make this one of the greatest American musicals ever lensed.

Singing In the RainI don't know of any greater classic movie than this one I love Debbie Reynolds in this movie her personality will capture your heart. Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor combine their talents in one of the greatest big-screen musicals ever made, a two-time Oscar nominee that includes the songs "Good Morning," "Make 'Em Laugh" and the iconic title tune. When Hollywood attempts the transition from silent films to talkies, a matinee idol (Kelly) hopes to make the cut. But he's hampered by a silent-movie queen (Jean Hagen) with a voice like fingernails on a blackboard.
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers If you are a big fan of handsome mountain men that can sing well than this is the movie for you I love this movie and I think Milly is my hero. Set on a ranch in the Oregon Territory, this rousing musical tells the story of Adam (Howard Keel) and his six unruly brothers. Adam marries Milly (Jane Powell), who's appalled by the motley crew and takes it upon herself to tame them. Longing to become husbands like their brother, the boys go into town and kidnap six lovely women for themselves. Not without chaos and uproar, the boys and their wives eventually find happiness.

Big Dreams

I've been day dreaming again. From the time I was young I have always been a big dreamer, when I was living in Hemet in my small Christian School I desperately dreamed of someday leaving. We have a saying in Hemet if you drink the water you are destined to return or never leave Hemet. This saying always frightened me to to death because most people I know there that was true they do return or never leave my fear was WOULD THAT REALLY HAPPEN TO ME!!!!!!!

San Diego Fun Thing to Do

OB's Farmer's Market

Alright I guess I'm going to be updating the San Diego stuff on my blog its just really on my mind right now and I want to get all of these recommendations on here. Ok this San Diego fun thing to do is really close to my heart countless Wednesday's I have spent strolling the streets of OB for the weekly Farmer's Market, from the time I was a freshman at Point Loma I have enjoyed going to the farmer's market taking samples of everything that is offered haha, and buying fresh flowers and produce. I have been to a few different Farmer's Markets but the OB Farmer's Market is in my opinion the best maybe I'm just biased, but there is always live entertainment and the eclectic personalities are always lining the streets selling their latest and greatest creations. It is truely a unique market place and I love it like crazy.

Hodad's

Hodad noun - a nonsurfer who spends time at beaches masquerading as a surfer. see also "poser". It's been forever since I have blogged a San Diego recommendation I still have so many floating around in my head I will try to post them all before I leave or maybe ill post them as I miss them. Anyways Hodad's ,I can't believe I haven't blogged about yet, is a delicious hamburger place in Ocean Beach it is so delicious but soooo bad for you if you are ready to throw caution to the wind and have some really good junk food I recommend Hodad's their burgers and fries are to die for and my absolute favorite thing from there are the chocolate shakes yumm my mouth is watering just thinking about it. There is always a line at Hodad's so you might have to wait but im telling you it's worth it!

Sunset Cliffs

With the knowledge that I will be moving away from my beloved San Diego soon, it's hard not to think about the things that I am really going to miss. One of the things that I think I will miss most of all about San Diego. Is sunset cliffs for the past six years that I have lived here sunset cliffs has been my escape. As a freshman in the dorms at Point Loma I would go there to get away from the zillion girls and allow myself to rest and relax in solitude enjoying the beautiful creation around me, I would take long walks by myself or just spend time reading and journaling on the cliffs. I also got really into running on the cliffs it was a great stress reliever for me. Of course there is the surfing too I really am going to miss surfing the cliffs. I guess the reason it's on my mind is cause Tim and I have been running in the mornings on Sunset cliffs and I'm really going to miss that, I really hope I return to San Diego someday I love it here.

Hey It's Ok!

So I'm totally stealing Glamour Magazine's Hey its ok column idea for my blog. It's one of my favorite columns to read because it makes me feel human for some of the silly things I do so for the readers of my blog you get to enjoy a few of my very own "hey its ok" rules.
Hey it's ok
  1. To eat cookies and milk for breakfast (so you ran out of cereal and don't want to waste the milk i see the logic) .
  2. To secretly wish you could just go home on Friday night, get in your Pj's and veg-out rather than go out.
  3. To have secret nerdy obsessions (mine are Harry Potter and Twilight books).
  4. To still sleep with your favorite childhood comfort bear, or blanket (I swear I don't do this).
  5. To sometimes just let your room get messy.
  6. To once in a while lose it and honk at someone who just cut you off in traffic.

Eat Pray Love

A few years ago I read a book that I immediately fell in love with, it's called Eat Pray Love. It was about a woman's journey throughout one year where she traveled and lived in three different countries for a total of 4 months each place it is a true story about Elizabeth Gilbert. The first place she travel's to is Italy where she allows herself to indulge in all things italian from the language to the food she absorbs the culture, this is where she titles her first stop as "Eat", because lets face it one of the best things about living in Italy is the food.
The Second Country she visit's is India she tries to find herself on a spiritual journey here at a yoga monestary she is a little out of her league here as the early morning meditations are not exactly her thing but she meets a man from Texas there who shares with her alot of wisdom about life. This country she entitle's "Pray". The third country is Bali where she finishes her journey with what started it all. Years previous she had met a medicine man who told her she would return so she follows his advice and does, she learns so much about eastern medicine and also falls in a very romantic relationship, which is why she entitle's this country as "Love". I am so so excited that this summer they are making this book into a movie and they have chosen one of my favorite actresses to play the part. I cannot wait!!!!

Cinco De Mayo

Happy Cinco De Mayo
well im probably not going out tonight I have class and an early flight but I wanted to write about what's going on in San Diego for Cinco De Mayo.
For the Gas Lamp festivities click here.
and of course Old Town is always a great place to go for some good mexican restaurants.

Happy Birthday Audrey!

"For Attractive lips, speak words of kindness, For lovely eyes, seek out the good in people, For a slim figure, share your food with the hungry, For Beautiful hair, let a child run their fingers through it once a day, For poise, walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone. People, more than things, have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed. Remember, if you ever need a helping hand, you will find one at the end of each of your arms. As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others."Audrey Hepburn
I really wanted to blog about this yesterday because her birthday was yesterday but lets celebrate it today since I was unbelievably busy yesterday. Why I love this woman, she is by far my FAVORITE classic hollywood actress. I fully believe there has not been anyone since Audrey who has been as classy or as lovely as she was. The Real Audrey Hepburn story begins with a little girl who experienced the cruelty and consequences of World War II and who never forgot what liberation felt like or the images of aid arriving to her and thousands like her in Holland.Although she had dreamed of becoming a prima ballerina since childhood, the war had rendered her physically incapable of it. Instead Audrey turned a lost dream into the next best thing; she took modeling jobs where she learned to work in front of the camera, used her training to compete with 4,000 dancers for one of ten spots in a chorus line and eventually, found herself in front of a motion picture camera.
(her style in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's gave us the infamous little black dress, and is actually the movie that made Rayban sunglasses famous)
Within three years the whole world would come to know Audrey as Princess Anne in Roman Holiday. And that is how we came to know her, be captivated by her, and why we are still in love with her. Within over 25 movies to her credit, there is no doubt that Audrey achieved a rarefied position as beloved actress and icon of style. Yet Audrey always considered her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador her greatest role. And that is the beauty of Audrey's legacy; that we have the opportunity to know and appreciate her gifts, both as an actress and as a devoted humanitarian. (http://www.audreyhepburn.com/)
