Aloha from Hawaii

You may have noticed that I have been MIA from my blog well to be honest this summer has been flying by and I have been kept away from my computer as most of my jobs now keep me out and about but I wanted to give you a little update on where I am now. Today I am writing you from the beautiful Island of Kauai I am here for a little vacation! It is so beautiful here everything is so unbelievably green yesterday Tim and I went hiking to this amazing look out then we went to see some beautiful waterfalls and finished the day right with some shaved ice and beach time. Kauai is really an amazing place everywhere you look its breathtaking. It's funny too there are for some reason a ton of chickens running around this island I have no idea why but they are every where like our seagulls or pigeons so weird and funny. Alright ill keep you posted on what's going on in my hawaiian adventure.

FIFA WORLD CUP

I can't claim to know anything about sports but I must say I am a huge fan of the world cup of soccer it's such an exciting sporting event all these countries coming together to cheer on their team and watch with enthusiasm as their teams play. It seems almost as if the world puts aside their differences and sits in a stadium together screaming and shouting for their teams proudly displaying their nations flags how awesome is that. It would be so much fun to be in South Africa during this world cup! I hope you all get a chance to watch at least the final wold cup match whoever the teams may be.

San Diego Fun Thing to Do!!!

You may have already noticed having driven by San Diego's Harbor that there is a new ship in our harbor.

The historic Portuguese tall ship Sagres sailed into San Diego Bay Monday for a one-week stay.

The ship was built in 1937 at the Blohm & Voss shipyard in Hamburg, Germany. It was captured in 1945 by U.S. Forces during World War II and was later given to Brazil for use by its Navy as a training ship.

In 1962, the ship was purchased by Portugal for use by its Navy as a training ship and renamed Sagres, after a historic port that was the starting point for many Portuguese explorers and navigators.

It is the sister ship to the U.S. Coast Guard’s Eagle. The Sagres will be docked at the Maritime Museum of San Diego on North Harbor Drive through June 13.

The Sagres will be docked north of the Maritime Museum on N. Harbor Dr. The timing of the ship’s visit will help bring awareness to the museum’s plans to build a replica of the San Salvador, flagship of the Portuguese navigator, Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. Hours the Sagres will be open are on the museum’s website at www.sdmaritime.org. Regular museum admission prices; adults $14 and children $8. However, tickets purchased on line, in advance (Discovery Package) will include a one hour Historic Bay Cruise around the bay on the Pilot boat. Tickets may be purchased at the gate as well. Rides on the Pilot can be added to regular admission for only $3 more.

The Maritime Museum of San Diego enjoys a worldwide reputation for excellence in restoring, maintaining and operating historic vessels. The museum has one of the world’s finest collections of historic ships, including the world’s oldest active ship the Star of India. The museum is located on the North Embarcadero in downtown San Diego at 1492 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101. The telephone number for general inquiries is 619-234-9153. Additional information can be found on the museum’s website at www.sdmaritime.org.

Classic Movie Cafe

Summer is here so lets take a look at one of my favorite classic summer movie. Today's movie recommendation is for a movie about a surfer girl (girl+midget=gidget)
Gidget
Sandra Dee stars as the irrepressible Gidget in this charming 1959 comedy that spawned a series of teen films in the early '60s. School's out for summer, and the spunky California beach girl is determined to hone her surfing skills. Along the way, she falls in love with not one, but two surfer boys -- one of whom (Moondoggie, played by James Darren) could become her lasting love.

I also am a huge fan of the Gidget Show.
Hang ten with America's favorite surfer girl in this collection of episodes from the classic television show. Spunky 15-year-old Frances Elizabeth Lawrence (Sally Field) -- better known to her family and friends as Gidget -- spends her time catching waves and generally charming everyone on the beach. Don Porter plays Gidget's dad, and plenty of future stars, including Richard Dreyfuss, Barbara Hershey and Harvey Korman, make guest appearances.

25 and feeling alive!!!!

Well today is officially my birthday I am a whole year older but the funny thing about this birthday is that from now on when people ask how old I am I will have to now say an age that makes me really feel like an adult, soo crazy to be 25!
so I'm making a list of things I'm planning to accomplish at age 25
1. run 5 days a week.
2. become scuba certified.
3. get mostly A's in my Grad School classes.
4. dress like a 25 year old (maybe wear more dresses).
5. give stand up paddling a try.
6. plan a trip to a foreign country (it's been a while since I have traveled) even if it doesn't happen this year I should plan it this year.
7. create a masterpiece.
8. go sailing.
9. become an expert in the kitchen cooking 90% of my meals at home.
10. pick one of the activities I enjoy and perfect my skills.

Well it is officially summertime in my book it seems like the summer season starts memorial day weekend and I hope you all had a great memorial day! It was such a crowded weekend at the beaches in san diego which is really not at all surprising for the holiday but man it was crazy summertime in san diego means if you aren't at the beach before 10am on the weekends you can expect to drive around for a long time looking for a parking spot. There are however many beaches in San Diego that are uncrowded you just really have to know where to find them and sorry readers but I really can't let you in on those secrets. Anyways i wanted to post a list of 50 fun things to do in san diego so click the link below to see whats going on this summer!

Lately

So much has happened lately that I need to give an update on why I have not posted in a while well lets see where to begin. Well Tim graduated from San Diego State so we had a great time with friends and family as his college career came to a close.
After his graduation I finished my last day at Sunny Days sad to say goodbye to my coworkers but looking forward to my next step.
Tim and I took a trip out to Arizona to visit his family it was such a wonderful relaxing time Tim and I were able to unwind after the craziness from the school year and just chill visiting his family. We took a day trip up to Sedona which turned out to be really beautiful the red rock cliffs were so cool.
Then started up with Surf Diva and I have to say I really love it it's so much fun to have a job where I can hang out at the beach and teach people to surf.

Yummy Ice Cream Cake

Hi all I wanted to share this delicious recipe for an ice cream cake that I made for Tim's graduation party. I got this recipe from the Kraft Recipe's website it was sooo easy to make and a huge success everyone loved it so have fun trying it out for your upcoming summer parties!
