The Marshmallow Experiment - Instant Gratification from FloodSanDiego on Vimeo.

A few months ago flood did the same experiment that Standford University did on delay of gratification they put the children in a room with a marshmallow and said if you can wait until I come back you can have two marshmallows or you can eat it now and get one. So Funny!

Happy Jackie Robinson Day oh and Happy tax day too!

Jackie Robinson was the first African American Major League Baseball (MLB) player of the modern era. Robinson broke the baseball color line when he debuted with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. As the first black man to openly play in the major leagues since the 1880s, he was instrumental in bringing an end to racial segregation in professional baseball, which had relegated African-Americans to the Negro leagues for six decades. The example of his character and unquestionable talent challenged the traditional basis of segregation, which then marked many other aspects of American life, and contributed significantly to the Civil Rights Movement. Just call me Picasso!

I have been taking night art classes at San Diego City College and I am currently in a painting class which is fun but our projects are always so defined and we cover tons of different techniques so im getting a feel for many different painting styles, some I'm alot better at than others and some I fail miserably at, we just did an abstract painting that drove me crazy, tomorrow we are starting a project using the impasto painting technique and basically it's where you paint with a pallette knife and kind of cake on the paint so it gives your canvas a textured surface. I found a woman who uses that technique and sells her work on Etsy and I love her work I want to paint something like her paintings.

Our project however is to paint a dessert that we bring in I'm not sure how our desserts are supposed to last but I think I want to buy a really cute cupcake something like this and use it for my painting.

Classic Movie Cafe

Well this isn't exactly a movie recommendation it is more about a classic movie actress, if I could look like anyone in classic hollywood I would love to look like Rita Hayworth. I recently watched the movie Gilda which I guess was the movie that made her famous, I honestly have never seen any of her movies before, but after watching Gilda I think she is the most beautiful woman, and I would give anything to look like her she was so gorgeous. I decided to read up on her life, she was born Margarita Carmen Cansino her father was from Spain her mother was from Ireland her dad was very involved in Flamenco dancing he had dreams to turn his daughter into a great dancer, her mother wanted her to become a great actress, well any guesses who's dream came true, well actually her career in films started once she was discovered by head of the fox film corperation, Winfield Sheehan he was in Mexico watching her perform her flamenco at a big band club, she was signed on with a contract it didnt go far with fox so she was given a contract with Columbia pictures her start in acting was slow she kept getting cast for stereotypical latina films so the company decided to change her image they died her hair red and changed her name to Rita Hayworth using her mother's maiden name. Rita Hayworth performed with big names such as Gene Kelly and Fred Astaire, but her most memorable role was her role in Gilda she was hollywood's bombshell.

San Diego Fun Thing To Do!

SEAPORT VILLAGE SPRING BUSKER FESTIVAL
April 10-11
I thought this sounded kind of fun Seaport village is hosting a busker festival. What is a busker? well a Busker is a street performer. Known for their unusual and comedic acts in Boston's Faneuil Hall or standing statue-like, painted in gold on San Francisco's Pier 39, these artists perform for tips in public venues across the globe.
San Diego's Seaport Village hosts the only Busker Festival in Southern California. They bring professionals from across the country to perform their bizarre talents from sword swallowing to knife throwing to pogo stick tricks and juggling on unicycles. Throughout the two-day festival, some of the nation's top performers fill the bay front village drawing visitors to shop, dine and enjoy an entire day of one-of-a-kind entertainment.

Happy Birthday Doris Day

I wanted to write this post on April 3 but with my vacation and the Holiday weekend i completely forgot. So April 3, 2010 was Doris Day's 86 birthday not to be mistaken for her 88 birthday for a long time everyone was under the impression that Doris was born in 1922 but turns out she was actually born in 1924, her mother lied about her age saying she was 18 when she was only 16 so she could join the Big Band's so today I'm posting up some great pics of Doris Day. I wanted to celebrate her simply because she is wonderful one of my favorite classic movie actresses she really had talent not only was she in some great movies she also had a great voice and some real personality she had a great sense of humor and brought that to many of her films.
