We slept in a little in the morning and cooked breakfast
beside the lake we had a beautiful lakeside view while we enjoyed our oatmeal.
We quickly packed up our packs and were so excited to be on out way. We started
out on our trail and were hiking along this hill then made our way into this
beautiful meadow and along this stream where we saw this little marmot that
seemed so curious about us. As we continued walking we found ourselves walking
beside this marsh that was covered with mosquitoes which was complete torture
for me at one point I began running with my heavy pack to get away from all the
skeeters. (and if you think that your bug spray, pants and long sleeve shirt
will keep the skeeters from biting you, think again because they bit right
through all of that) By the end of the day I was covered in bites.
We arrived
at the High Sierra Backpackers camp by lunchtime and we decided to stop there
for lunch.
We continued on our trek up and over a small summit walked along
some melting snow on the ground and made our way over to the beautiful sunrise
lakes there were three lakes that made up the sunrise lakes and we passed the
first one where we saw some guys on what looked like an all guy fishing trip,
then we made our way past the second and found a spot to camp on the third
lower lake.
We were so exhausted this second day we set up camp and then just laid
out on this large granite rock and took a nap, Tim jumped in and went for a
swim while I slept in the sun it was so relaxing. At that campsite we had a
little Marmot visitor that came unusually close to our packs, and we thought it
would be a good idea to scare him off by throwing some woodchips toward him,
well Tim actually hit the little guy right on the back (not too hard) the
marmot looked back and then just walked off.
That night it got really cold so
we went into our tent early again so we could warm up. That night both of us
popped some ibuprofen before bed that night because we were feeling the pain
and soreness more than ever before. We both fell asleep but woke up several
times, as that was one of the coldest nights of our trip.
Good morning breakfast by the lake anyone!
The pretty meadow
I don't see cloud's rest or any lakes but supposedly its out there somewhere
little did I know shortly after this photo I would be eaten alive by mosquitos
Our little Marmot friend!
Getting closer to Yosemite Valley
Brrr still snow on the ground! It's JUNE!
First Sunrise lake
I'm so happy to be almost there
Wohoo we made it!
Our little Marmot friend found us again, soon to be hit by mean old Tim.
Enjoying a sunset on the lake
I just want to crawl into that tent and sleep!
