October in a nutshell

Well October has been a fast and eventful month full of the grad school grind, practicum woah's, and the hoorah of the seasonal festivities. So here are a few of the highlights from this month.
Sunday was a baking day I forget how much I love to bake since I don't have a kitchen, but lucky for me the family we live with was away for the weekend so we had the house to ourselves! It was so relaxing hanging out in a living room and cooking away in a kitchen!

Last Saturday night, a dear friend of ours gave Tim and I two tickets to this Bridge School Benefit Concert, put on by Neil Young, artists such as Santana, Dave Matthews, Eddie Vedder, Mumford and Sons, Arcade Fire, and etc. played it was sooo fun such a great way to procrastinate the mountain of homework we had!!

Tim had a great 28th Birthday with co-workers and friends!
We made a trip to the Half Moon Bay pumpkin and Art festival where we saw giant pumpkins and beautiful art I fell in love with all the glass blown pumpkins!
We watched Farmer Mike Carve the Giant pumpkins!
Here is his handiwork those pumpkins are actually really huge I should a took a picture to scale it.
Here is the drive down to the festival such a pretty coastline.

Downton Abbey

Well lately I have been obsessed with a show I found on netflix called Downton Abbey. I'm surprised I even allowed myself to watch it because it's a british tv show and for some reason british movies and shows are so boring to me, but I was actually really surprised by this one I absolutely loved it.

The storyline of the show is about aristocrat Lord Crawley who sees his family heritage, especially the grand country home Downton Abbey, as his mission in life. The death of his heir aboard the Titanic means distant cousin Matthew Crawley, a Manchester lawyer, suddenly is next in line and accepts moving onto the vast estate with his even more modernist, socially engaged mother, who clashes with his lordship's domineering, conservative ma the dowager. Marrying off the daughters is another concern. Meanwile the butler presides over a staff which serves the family but also lead most of their entire lives in the servants quarters, intriguing amongst themselves.

My interest is mainly what goes on with the servants. You find yourself completely wrapped up in the lives of these people that are so devoted to waiting on this family hand and foot, doing the oddest chores such as ironing the morning newspaper. What I love most about the show is that day to day life is such a production, I mean every night about an hour before dinner the butler rings the dinner bell for the family to get dressed for dinner. The family get all dressed up and changed for a fancy meal every night the women do their hair and put on their gloves just to go back downstairs and eat dinner. I mean can you imagine that life, I usually eat dinner in my pj's. I also love the roles everyone has there is a definite hierarchy even among the servants some servants are not allowed to be seen, crazy right?

Anyways the final episode (there are only 7) totally leaves you hanging so I can't wait until season 2 comes out supposed to show on PBS in January feels like forever from now, but I totally marked it down on the calendar. See schedule here.

here is the family all dressed up for dinner

Here is a photoshoot of the main characters in vogue

These are my two favorite characters Lady Sybil the youngest daughter
My favorite character is Anna she is the head house maid

Farewell Summer

It's weird summer has been long gone for me almost 2 months ago it ended but for some reason when Fall gets going I can't help but miss the summer. It is my favorite season after all but usually I am so busy soaking up the sun during the summer that I rarely sit down at the computer to blog so in honor of my reminiscing over a season gone by I decided to share some of the most precious highlights of my summer.

Well we danced our socks off at tons of weddings we went to and at the last got complimented on how awesome a couple we are!

Spending everyday on the beautiful blue pacific coast! Who doesn't love the beach and the color blue for that matter.

Being a surf instructor with all these great people!

Summer uniform was nothing more than a bathing suit and pair of flip flops!

I married the love of my life and I get to spend the rest of my life laughing with this Hot Man!

July 9, 2011 was the best day ever all of my closest friends and family go together to celebrate one of the most important days of my life!!! (photo by Dan Fields)

Camping at San Elijo will always be an amazing part of my summer!

Hanging out with all of my old friends from church cheering on our boys!

Switchfoot concert was pretty fun!

Being able to run my toes through the sand

Spending time with family and surfing the summer away! Watching tim and mashoo bond!

And of course of fun girls night out bachlorette party Hats and Heels!

And of course a big highlight was captured on camera and turned into an amazing video which I already posted about here

Have you lost your marbles

When I was little I was obsessed with marbles. I used to collect them because I thought they were little glass treasures. I believe the people that lived in the house that I grew up in before us must have had a child that liked to play marbles because I used to find them buried in my backyard. My dad would also search for them with me and use the really pretty marbles as eyes in his fish sculptures. Now you can hardly find marbles anywhere anymore but anytime I see them in toy stores it always brings back good childhood memories.
